Shopping Cart Solutions for WordPress

Posted October 27th, 2011 by

Hi, I’m the owner of WordPress Shopping Cart Reviews, and I just want to take a moment to talk about my website.  It’s based on my own experiences looking for the best eCommerce solution for the venerable blogging platform-cum-content management system.  Given all the frustrations I had trying to figure out what’s what (and what’s more, how-to with what!), I had the idea that there are probably many out there who are also having a hard time navigating the issue of doing business on WordPress.

Hence, my shopping cart review site.  Now let me admit right now that I’m going to be a little biased towards those products, such as Cart66, which is what I’ve found to best serve my needs.  However, that isn’t to discount other solutions such as Tribulant Shopping Cart or WP eStore at all, and I give them a lot of respect for the unique features they bring to eCommerce with WordPress.  I happen to run a handful of other sites at the moment, and plan on utilizing those carts, too, in time.  It’s just that for one of those sites right now, which demands really attractive and fairly unique visuals, I need something that most easily conforms to the pre-existing look and feel.  For other sites down the road, page layout will probably be not as great a concern and I’ll be quite eager to utilize other software, just for fun!

There will also be reviews for other WordPress plugins related to eCommerce, such as those for affiliate programs.  In fact, for the debut in mid-December three or four such solutions will be covered, including Affiliate Royale, from the maker of the famous Pretty Link and WP Mingle plugins, and iDevAffiliate, the industry standard since the 1990s.  I will also be taking an in-depth look at various custom themes, such as those by Elegant Themes (which holds the distinction for best bang-for-the-buck by far), Allure Themes (designed by women for women!), and of course WooThemes, the one of the WordPress community’s few eight hundred-pound gorillas!

“And that’s not all” — at launch other useful WordPress resources will be also be reviewed, from books (Digging into WordPress) to frameworks (Headway, Platform Pro)…and more. Always more.

Such as video tutorials just for beginners so that you or someone you know can get up to speed with WordPress if necessary.  My reviews will even take an in-depth look at the best webhosts around, and even some non-WordPress solutions for your business!

Now that probably sounds more than a little heretical for a pro-WordPress site, but hey, “it’s not personal; it’s business.”  The sad fact of the matter is that eCommerce on everyone’s beloved platform can still be somewhat lacking compared to what’s available elsewhere, depending on what exactly is required.  And WordPress Shopping Cart Reviews isn’t simply about promoting WordPress; it’s about promoting business success, first and foremost.  And if nothing else, I’m honest; as  you see, there are no sacred cows with me.

So no matter what’s being reviewed, you can be sure that it’s something I’ve actually used to some degree myself.  And speaking of the truth, I don’t purport to advise anyone with enterprise-level ambitions.  Your mileage may well vary.  But with all the shopping carts, affiliate programs, custom themes, theme frameworks, webhosts, and even non-WordPress solutions that will be taken under consideration, it’s as sure a bet as any that there will be something useful.

And you can always bookmark the aforementioned video tutorials.  Even share them with others.

Yes, I have a lot in store for Opening Day, and I’ll leave the rest as a pleasant surprise.  Suffice it to say, WordPress Shopping Cart Reviews aims to be the online destination for WordPress eCommerce for 2012 — and beyond!

But it can’t happen on its own.  Even with all the great things in store, it all means nothing…without you.

So why don’t you hop on over even now and bookmark the homepage.  Share it with your friends and colleagues; e-mail them, Facebook ‘em, Twitter: whatever.  Spread the word.  It’ll only take all over two to three minutes.
